FDA offers guidelines for buying pets’ prescription drugs online

The FDA is calling on pet owners to be vigilant about the online prescription drugs they buy for their pets. Since there is no iron-clad way of telling whether an online pharmacy is legal, the agency advises owners to ask their veterinarians for input, watch for warning signs, such as drugs that do not require veterinary prescriptions, and always check for Web site certification, among other guidelines.
