here is my problem:  this horse works slow work great and is extremely well broke, possibly too much.  she will only run when she wants to. I have had her vet checked and she is sound. she is 6 yrs old. and wraps herself around a barrel at a walk and trot, but getting her to run is like pulling teeth from an uncoperative kids.  what can I do to get this mare to run other than spank the crap out of her.  I am at a loss. please help.  when she does run, she runs a 14.6 on the NBHA pattern. she is a 1d horse when she will run. you can run her in a halter.

Is your mare sutured?  If not, she could be sucking air in through the
vagina and that is something that can be very painful and could cause her to
not want to run.
