Sable is getting really strung out on the end poles and some of the barrels.  I've been doing the spiral in and out exercise when I do get to ride her (which will be EVER so much more now that it's summer)... And she will do it very well to a point and then get 'stuck' and not be able to shrink down.  I also try to trot small circles and she will do them great both ways once I have her mind focused.

She's 4 and has recently finished growing a hand or so... She's about 15.2 now and was around 14.2 when I got her.  Do I just need to give it time and let her adjust to her new stature as she's had winter off?  Or do I need to do something else?  Weaving the poles or switching leads in general is not the issue.  Sable just does not BEND like I want her/need her too.

I had a filly do this with me. I took her off the barrels and started doing different exercises. I started by doing one rein stops to get her attention back on me. After I just got creative with ways to make her listen to me and turn correctly at the same time. Try doing things in the pasture!

Brooksie,

Is Sable interpretting lift as "turn here" rather than "get off my hand and move over"??  Is this what you are going thru??
Answer that and I'll see what I can tell you.

:)
Thanks!

I don't know... I need to go to one of your clinics with her... I think I'm rushing myself too much on her...

It's basically that she feels like she's crossfiring to me even when she's not.  and if I cannot get her on the correct lead in the back she will sling that butt away...

On the end poles she is pushing with the back to turn, but not completing it with the front...

I just feel like I'm riding two different horses... One in front and one in hind.
