Ebarrelracing.com rocks

I am trying to find a saddle to fit the 2 horses I ride.  I have a new Wrangler Air Ride pad.  I was told by a trainer/friend that my saddle was making my mare's back sore......she had suggested the Green saddle (Mike & Talmadge)....Where can I go to have my horse checked to see what size saddle she/they need?  Most professionals, of course, are trying to sell the brand that have their name on or are sponsoring them.....I understand this......but PLEASE help me?  I am in the Central Texas region.

Hi.  I would suggest making a trip up to Teskey's and taking your horses with you for the simple
reason that you would be able to put many different makes/brands of saddles on your horses and find
a saddle that might fit them both.

Every trainer/saddlemaker is going to try to sell you "their" saddle.  I am all about finding the saddle
that fits the horse first...and then finding the saddle that fits you next.

Teskey's is in Weatherford Tx and they will let you try saddles on your horses, and you can go to the
back field and ride around and see if the saddle has any slide or roll to it.  The guys there are pretty well versed as well to be able to look at your horses and make the judgement as to what will fit.  Your only other option is to decide on a brand of saddle that you really like, go to that saddlemaker and have him fit a saddle that will be workable for both horses.

If you go to Teskey's, be sure and tell Micheal I sent you.  Once you decide on a saddle then you can find the correct pad as well.

Let me know how it goes.

I just bought a Martin Barrel Racer week before last and solved my saddle fit problems. I love the adjustments. It is also is very close contact. It will keep me from being stuck to one horse with it. My mare has made two great runs in a row since then. Old saddle just hindered her and rolled bad. Even tried a catus cj tree with no luck. My horse is wide and low withered.
