We bought a new horse for our daughter last April 2004. The horse is 10 years old and my daughter is 14. We have had only 3 clean runs since April. She is always hitting the 1st or 2nd barrel. Sometimes slamming into the barrel. The trainer that was helping us had her on a o ring bit. This last month and a half we changed to combination bit. My daughter says the horse leans to the barrel when she approaches the barrel. The horse is so powerful coming out of the alley way and I am sure my daughter is nervous as well. When we practice at home we do fine, but when we go to a barrel race we hit barrels. At this point my daughter is very frustrated. After I baught the horse I heard the horse hit barrels with the last owner. I put my life savings in this horse. We need help? Can this be fixed? Would one of your training programs help her. We live in Magnolia, TX , is there a training available in January or February near Texas?

Thanks,

Carol

Thank you!

Carol Patton

Hi Carol,

Yes, you definitely need help and my guess is that a lot of your problems can be fixed with some equipment changes and more education for your horse and rider. One of our clinics would be great for both your daughter and her horse. Ed gives individual attention to each person and horse according to their needs and special problems. Check our website for the clinic schedule – we do have a clinic in the Houston, TX area on Jan. 22-23. The contact person for that clinic is Tiffani Sonnier – you can find her contact info on the clinic page of our website. The clinics fill up fast so you probably need to get in touch with Tiffani soon.

Hope to see you in January.
