Martha -
I have a horse that I have just started running (after a year working on him, going back to basics) he is very very nice and I found a bit that he just makes awesome turns with (gag with 3 piece dogbone twisted wire mouthpiece) but I CAN'T stop him running home.

YES, all I do at home is slow work, and work on his stopping and he does fine, it's just when he runs all out at a barrel race he runs really hard and fast..........guess my only option is a bit with more control, he turns sooo good with this one but my question........do you have any bit suggestions or any "exercises" I can do at home to help me with his stopping when I run him home. Sure, if I put a correction bit or rutlege roper I can stop him, no problem but I don't like these to run in...............

Thanks

Maybe you should try the long shank or possibly our pretzel bit.
