At this event, cowboys and cowgirls can showcase the practical, hard-working talents of their American Paint Horses.

Never shown before? That’s no problem. This event is a great educational opportunity for Paint Horse riders to learn practical horsemanship skills, and it also offers a fun, friendly atmosphere for competitors of all levels.

With custom-designed Gist belt buckles, cash and other prizes being awarded, riders are sure to have a great time in the low-key atmosphere found at this event. Both individual class and overall awards will be presented for both Open and Amateur riders with Regular Registry or Solid Paint-Bred Registry horses. The highest-achieving Youth will also receive a special award.

Competitors may enter one or all of the following classes:

Stock Horse Pleasure
Stock Horse Versatility
Working Stock Horse
Stock Horse Reining

The weekend will begin with a clinic on Saturday by retired Extension Horse Specialist of Texas A&M University, B.F. Yeates and current Equine Science Professor of Texas A&M, Dennis Sigler. These two industry professionals will introduce and provide tips on improving skills that will be used in the weekend’s competition. New riders and professional ranch hands alike will each take away something from this educational experience. Fees for this clinic also include free entry into the class of your choice.

Versatility and cattle practices will also be held concurrently with the clinic on Saturday. The versatility classes will be held at will from 3–5 p.m. Saturday afternoon, kicking off the weekend’s competition.

Sunday begins at 8 a.m. with the Stock Horse Reining class and continues throughout the day with the Working Stock Horse and Stock Horse Pleasure classes. Overall awards will immediately follow the final class.
