Britney Pozzi

Where are you from? Victoria, TX

When did you start barrel racing? About 11 years ago

Are you involved in any other equine events? Rope Breakaway

Who or What got you started barrel racing? I started riding horses and decided that the pasture was not enough for me, my dad rodeoed when he was little and he is what got me started.

On the road sometimes things happen do you have an usual or funny story? Getting lost is not on my priority list but it usually seems to happen, along with an occasional blowout and my generator catching on fire

What was the name of your favorite horse and tell us a little about it. Leroy, 16 year old bay gelding. We bought him for my sister from Regina Causey and she couldn’t get along with him so he became mine!

What are some of the events that you have won (or races that stand out in your mind)? 2002 Texas high School Rodeo (region, state, & Nationals) Champion, 2002 College Southern region Barrels, 2002 CPRA Rookie of the year, Bay City and Beaumont Pro rodeos. All of these things were won on Leroy.

Over the years have you noticed any changes in barrel racing what are the good or bad you’ve seen? The changes I have seen mostly is barrel races changing to the 4D format and now they are having 5D

What is do you think of an equal pay out 4d? I do not like the equal payout or the 4D’s at all. I feel that a horse that runs half a second off should not win more money than a horse that out runs it and falls in the crack

Do you think of yourself as a professional barrel racer? yes

Do you have any advice for anyone just starting out in barrel racing? Take a lot of advice from people and figure out what works best for you.

Do you think barrel racing should be limited to women only? I think that the pro rodeos should be limited to women only, but barrel races to everyone
