Dear Martha,
I have a 6 coming 7 year old APHA gelding that loves to run. The former owners of this horse tried wp but could not get him to slow down enough for their taste in the canter area.

I have never rode a mare with a colt before and am not sure where to begin. I live in the country and have miles and miles of open country to ride in. I cannot tell you both enough how much I have learned attending your clinic’s so the old saying you can’t teach an old dog new tricks does not apply.
I HAVE A 5YR OLD ARABIAN GELDING, HE LEARNS FAST. MY QUESTION IS, WOULD THIS BE A GOOD HORSE FOR BARREL RACING, I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH BARREL HORSES, I NEED TO KNOW THE DISTANCE FROM BARREL TO BARREL, AND FROM THE STARTING POINT TO THE FIRST BARREL,
I have a 4 years old mare. I have your book and really enjoyed it. I have been riding horses for over 10 years. I have never done barrels and really would like to do barrels on my 4 years old mare.
I have a 5 year old Appaloosa. We got her when she was 4 years old and had to break her ourselves. Would she be a good barrel horse and if so how do I start teaching her?

I am trying out a 17 year old seasoned barrel horse. She is really teaching me to go the next level from the younger class. I am 13 and competing with more experienced riders and horses. Trouble is she shoulders the 2nd barrel coming out of it.
Do you think running a horse at such a young age will bring about “hard times” for it as an open horse down the road (soundness problems)? What’s your over all opinion of futuritying horses?
I have found a special smooch-like noise that makes him run, but I am not sure if I should be pushing him. According to the trainer, he is mature as a typical three-year-old, but he is five. Should I wait another year or so until he becomes more mature?
Please help.
my horse is 17 yrs old. i was wondering if she was too old to run barrels(compete).
i’ve wanted to barrel race for a long time and i don’t know if my horse is too old. help me out please.
thank you
I’m sure there are probably ways to teach your filly the pattern from the ground but it would be much better if you would just let her grow up and learn to be a horse while she is so young
