NBHA Open and Senior Divisions still can apply for Award

August 16, 2005, Amarillo, Texas – Competitors in the open and senior divisions of the National Barrel Horse Association still can submit nominations for the American Quarter Horse Association’s Best of America’s Horse program. AQHA has extended the nomination deadline from July 15 to September 15.

The versatility of the American Quarter Horse has long been demonstrated by AQHA members who compete in a variety of disciplines. AQHA developed the Best of America’s Horse awards program to recognize the achievements of American Quarter Horses that serve as ambassadors in events outside of AQHA-approved competition. This unique program allows AQHA members and their American Quarter Horses that compete in participating associations to earn AQHA awards and recognition.

To be eligible for the award, participants must be a current AQHA and NBHA member, the competing horse must be a registered American Quarter Horse, and the nomination form must be completed and filed with AQHA by the deadline, which is now September 15.

The Best of America’s Horse winners in the NBHA open and senior divisions will be announced at the NBHA World Show in Augusta, Georgia, October 30-November 5. The highest-placing American Quarter Horse in each division at the NBHA World Championships will receive a commemorative American Quarter Horse bronze and will have a notation of achievement placed on their AQHA permanent record.

NBHA is just one of many associations involved in Best of America’s Horse. Other organizations include the American Endurance Ride Conference, U.S. Equestrian Federation, Barrel Futurities of America, International Side Saddle Organization, North American Trail Ride Conference, Ranch Horse Association of America and United States Eventing Association.
