Blazin’ Barrels kick-off pays out $10,000!

Some smokin’ runs heated up the chilly fall air at the first of four weekends for the Blazin’ Barrels Winter Buckle Series produced by TNT Events. The event took place October 16 & 17 and was presented by Rocky Mountain Barns of Larkspur, Colorado. John Devlin, owner of Rocky Mountain Barns, has designed and constructed over 400 barns since 1997. He uses the highest quality building materials available and promises reliable and timely results. If you are in the market for a new barn, be sure to give him a call at 303-681-9190 and tell him thanks for his support of the Blazin’ Barrels Winter Buckle Series!

Over $10,000 was paid out in cash and prizes and over 450 horses passed through the arena gate in Colorado Springs, Colorado! Fast time of the weekend was turned in by Priscilla Medina and Do I Bug who ran a sizzlin’ 15.26 to win the WPRA Divisional Tour on Sunday. She was the third contestant to run the pattern that day and more than 150 competitors followed and tried to best her time to no avail. For her efforts, Priscilla trotted away with nearly $200 and an Impact Gel Saddle Pad. Roy Jo Sartin of Yoder, Colorado, showed that consistency really does pay off as she and Pass ‘Em Zantana won the Open 4D on Saturday and were second only behind Linda Aaberg and Nuthin Too Special on Sunday. Roy Jo blazed a trail to the bank with over $650 after the dust had settled. Others with dynamite consistency were Devin Conley and her four-legged friend, CJ Rose, who won the $1000 Novice Rider both days. Nicole McKnight rode Trux to the Youth 4D winner circle both days and it was Deb Frasier aboard Santana who won the Senior 4D both days.

The Open, Youth and Senior classes were all American West 4D sanctioned and some great daily awards were given out as well as some random draw prizes – goodies from Wrangler, Classic Equine and Buckeye – just to name a few! Also, everyone entered in the Open 4D was put into a random draw each day for a pair of Justin Boots. Saturday’s winner was Leslie Norvell of Elbert, Colorado, and Sunday’s lucky contestant was Lauren Guntle from Loveland, Colorado. Justin Boot Company has graciously donated two pair of boots to be given away at each weekend of the Blazin’ Barrels Series. Don’t miss the next chance to win a pair of boots!

Series-end awards will be given to 1st - 3rd place in each of the Open 4D Divisions. Bob Berg Buckles, custom-made cowhide brief bags by Pro Rodeo Originals and Wrangler jeans are just some of the items up for grabs! Current buckle standings show Roy Jo Sartin ahead of Linda Aaberg by 7 points for the 1D Buckle. Leading for the 2D Buckle is Melissa Levenson with Donna Krenning and Jessi Peek trailing by only 1 point. Wendy Suhn and Shelby Frasier-Mack are in the running for the 3D Buckle and Patti Kane is at the head of the pack for the 4D Buckle! The “race” is on and you must enter at least 6 of the 8 races to qualify. So, mark those calendars now for the remaining 6 races of the Blazin’ Barrels Winter Buckle Series – November 13 & 14, January 15 & 16 and March 12 & 13!

TNT Events would like to recognize their incredible sponsors who help make these races so successful! Presenting Sponsors for the series are Rocky Mountain Barns, Hitchin’ Post Trailer Sales, First National Bank of Las Animas, La Junta and Monument, Rhinestone Ranch and Midnight Rose Hotel and Casino. Gold Sponsors include Buckeye Nutrition, Classic Equine, Palmer Lake Motors, Wrangler and The Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau. Awards are being donated by Justin Boot Company, Wrangler, Classic Equine, Buckeye Nutrition, Cowboy Magic and Impact Gel Saddle Pads.

This came to me while chopping wood the other day. You've heard don't sweat the small stuff. I say save it for later and use it for kindling
