Blazin’ Barrels and Blowin’ Snow!
« on: February 07, 2005, 11:19:38 PM »

Overalls, parkas and earmuffs were the rage at the second weekend of the Blazin’ Barrels Winter Buckle Series produced by TNT Events. The Midnight Rose Hotel and Casino of Cripple Creek was the Presenting Sponsor for the event which took place November 13 & 14 in Colorado Springs. Mother Nature decided to blow in some nasty wintry weather and it was some die-hard competitors that braved the elements! One contestant that was really on fire was Nicole McKnight of Pueblo, Colorado. She and Trux won the Open 4D as well as the Youth 4D both days! Trux is currently owned by our crow’s nest helper-deluxe, Ardith Bruce, who has raised and trained the dynamite Quarter Horse.

Awards were given to all class champions as well as 2 deep in each of the Open 4D Divisions. The luckiest of the random draw winners were Frankie Drullinger and Karen Densmore, who each trotted home with a gift certificate for a new pair of Justin Boots, valued at $150!

Series-end awards will be given to 1st - 3rd places in each of the Open 4D Divisions. Current buckle standings show Nicole McKnight burnin’ the way for the 1D Buckle. Leading for the 2D Buckle is Kathy Gannon. Shelby Frasier is in the running for the 3D Buckle and Penny Chivers is at the head of the pack for the 4D Buckle! The “race” is on, so mark those calendars NOW for the remaining 4 races of the Blazin’ Barrels Winter Buckle Series – January 15 & 16 and March 12 & 13!

Presenting Sponsorsfor the series are Hitchin’ Post Trailer Sales, Rocky Mountain Barns, First National Bank of Las Animas, La Junta and Monument, The Midnight Rose Hotel and Casino and Meek’s Rhinestone Ranch. Gold Sponsors include Palmer Lake Motors and The Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau. Awards are being donated by Justin Boot Company, Buckeye, Classic Equine, Wrangler, The Equine Touch, Cowboy Magic, Farnam and Western Horseman. This came to me while chopping wood the other day. You've heard don't sweat the small stuff. I say save it for later and use it for kindling
