LEXINGTON, KY—Effective January 1, 2005, , responsibility for auditing the circulation of The Blood-Horse magazine was transferred from Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) to BPA Worldwide, headquartered in Chicago, Ill. The Blood-Horse, published by Blood-Horse Publications, is the Thoroughbred industry’s leading international magazine for racing and breeding news and information—and the industry’s oldest continually published magazine.

Mr. Stacy V. Bearse, President and CEO of Blood-Horse Publications noted that there were several key factors for the move and stated, “BPA Worldwide is focused on the small-to-medium business-to-business magazine and was quick to implement leading-edge methods that will give us data weeks earlier than ABC. Because BPA audits many high-tech magazine titles, it has been prompt and flexible in recognizing electronic media as a compliment to print. And it maintains an open-access web site that allows media buyers to access our reports 24/7. BPA Worldwide is simply a better fit for The Blood-Horse and its advertisers.”

Gene Sittenfeld, circulation director for The Blood-Horse, added, “We made this move at the best possible time. Our last circulation period audited by ABC ended June 31, 2004. The first period to be audited by BPA ranges from July 1, 2004, to December 31, 2004, so we will benefit from uninterrupted auditing.”

In addition to The Blood-Horse, BPA Worldwide's clients include ABA Banking Journal, Adweek, Aerospace Engineering, American Lawyer, Architecture, BusinessWeek, Electronic Design, Golfweek, InformationWeek, Institutional Investor, Power & Motoryacht, Science and Wine Enthusiast magazines.

About BPA Worldwide: BPA Worldwide was founded in 1931 by a group of advertisers, publishers and agencies. The firm is an independent, not-for-profit, self-regulating organization governed by a tripartite Board of Directors, which sets auditing rules and organizational policies and oversees operations. BPA’s membership includes more than 2,600 advertisers and agencies in 2o countries around the world. BPA currently serves 3,000 media properties - including more than 2,000 business-to-business publications, more than 600 consumer magazines and newspapers, more than 300 Web sites, plus events, e-mail newsletters, databases, wireless and other advertiser-supported media.

This came to me while chopping wood the other day. You've heard don't sweat the small stuff. I say save it for later and use it for kindling
