The American Quarter Horse Journal, August 27, 2007 – To enhance the spectator and exhibitor experience at the 2007 Bank of America Amateur and FedEx Open American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show held November 2-17 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, the schedule for the World Show has been updated.

Changes have been made to the final two evening performances of the schedule. Roping events will now be divided over Friday and Saturday nights. Junior tie-down roping, senior heading and senior heeling will be held on November 16 beginning at 7 p.m.
On November 17, senior tie-down roping, junior heading and junior heeling will be contested.

The World Show schedule can be found at http://www.aqha.com/showing/shows/worldshow/schedule.html.
“In an effort to allow owners and spectators to plan trips around their favorite events, we grouped similar classes together,” AQHA Executive Vice President Bill Brewer said. “We want the World Show to be an equine travel destination and are making an effort to accommodate our owners, exhibitors and fans.”

In addition to these schedule changes, spectators and exhibitors can expect new events. Ranch Sorting showcases a horse and rider’s ability in teams of two to numerically sort cattle from one pen to another in 60 seconds or less. Also, new performance halter classes will enhance the World Show experience.

During the final four nights of competition, spectators will be entertained with a showdown by AQHA Team Wrangler members. These top professionals will compete head-to-head in a different kind of competition than they’re used to.
“Team Wrangler members portray the industry’s top professionals, and this special competition held November 14-17 will prove their astounding ability to the world while providing an entertaining experience for all,” Brewer said.

This year, $600,000 will be added to the World Show – $450,000 to Open and $150,000 to Amateur. AQHA’s corporate partners have increased their support of the show by $100,000. The total cash and prizes are expected to reach $2.4 million for 2007.
