INDUSTRY LEADER DONATES $1 MILLION TO NEW HALL OF FAME & MUSEUM

Amarillo, Texas, February 28, 2006—The American Quarter Horse Foundation announced today that it received a $1 million gift from Council and Committee member Ken Banks. Banks’ donation will contribute to the all-new American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum, which will open in early 2007.

“Ken has been a longtime supporter of the American Quarter Horse by giving of his time, money and expertise,” said AQHA Executive Vice President Bill Brewer. “Ken’s generosity underscores his love of the American Quarter Horse and his dedication to the Foundation’s mission. We truly appreciate Ken and his gift to the Foundation.”

Banks, a 10-year breeder from Schulenburg, Texas, serves on the Foundation’s Campaign Cabinet as leadership gifts committee chairman.

An avid competitor, he has had several World Show qualifiers, including reserve world champions in working cow horse, reining and western pleasure and a world champion in western pleasure.

He is president of International Muffler Company, a muffler parts manufacturer with 325 employees. He also owns and operates Banks Ranch in Schulenburg, Texas. Banks has two sons, Russell and Paul, who are involved in IMCO.

“The work of the American Quarter Horse Foundation is very important to our Association,” Banks said. “Our goal of building a new Hall of Fame & Museum filled with the history of the horse way of life will be treasured for many generations. I am proud of that work. The Foundation is delivering an added dimension to our Association. Scholarships, equine research, therapeutic riding and preserving our history – these programs bring a kinder, gentler feel to AQHA. Those of us who love the American Quarter Horse way of life are excited to witness this quiet transformation. I very much appreciate the opportunity to make a small contribution to this effort. Giving to others is like giving to yourself. The rewards are many, and the feelings are warm.”
