Locust Valley, NY and Lewisville, NC – In one week, the Seraphim12 Foundation will have the amazing opportunity to reach into hearts and open eyes with their continuing efforts to promote awareness and change for America’s horses. Irish Oaks Farm located in Lewisville, NC, will host their schooling show not only to benefit talented riders, but also to raise money and awareness to support the mission of the Seraphim12 Foundation and H.E.R.O Rescue Equine. 100 percent of the proceeds from the pledges/donations will be contributed to the organizations.

To take place on Saturday, May 12, 2012, the show will offer numerous hunter and jumper classes. Competitors are encouraged to ask their friends and families for pledges on their behalf. Seraphim12, H.E.R.O Rescue Equine and show management are hopeful that each competitor will submit at least five pledged sponsors when registering for classes. A percentage of the proceeds from the entries will benefit the Seraphim12 Foundation, and H.E.R.O Equine Rescue will provide the concessions.

Owner of Irish Oaks Farm Karen Bruce has been a supporter of both organizations for years, and has created the first annual show to help spread their messages and promote their causes. In fact, it was Bruce who took in the first horses Seraphim12 rescued over three and half years ago.

“I believe in the horse rescue and the awareness that Seraphim12 promotes. It is a way to have a group of people come together and experience this education,” Bruce described. “I’ve seen how people do the pledges in different ways, and we really wanted for the kids to get involved. I hope that we can educate the folks that are coming out, have them become aware, and get involved to some extent. It is a personal passion as well, and our participation in these organizations through raising funds and relocating horses has been very rewarding.”

The Seraphim12 Foundation is a 501©(3) Not-For-Profit dedicated to creating a sympathetic balance between horse and humans through compassion, education and legislation. Teaming up with Irish Oaks Farm will allow an opportunity for both parents and children to become involved in a variety of ways, fostering community advocacy in an effort to promote the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (H.R. 2966 / S. 1176). Seraphim12 will provide pre-written letters for the adults to sign and send to not only local and national representatives, but also to the President of the United States. The children will also have the opportunity to write letters to express their feelings, bringing awareness to the ongoing slaughter and neglect issues.

Seraphim12 has been in the making for over three years, growing and expanding with the open hearts of its team. Through skillfully designed curricula focusing on education and awareness, the Seraphim12 Foundation will create a shift in the perception revolving around the care and classification of the horse. It is fundamental for Seraphim12 that all horses have a dignified life, retirement and a final resting place. Seraphim12 is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with long-time supporter Irish Oaks Farm and Bruce to continue their efforts and bring awareness to her North Carolina.

“I have known Karen Bruce for over twenty years,” Seraphim12’s Manda Kalimian explained. “She has been there from day one helping us to find slaughter-bound horses homes. Karen has been instrumental in helping us with our awareness, mission and success as an organization. We are so pleased to be a part of this show, it provides the perfect opportunity to get involved and we look forward to what it will mean for the future of Seraphim12.”

“I think that this is a great way to really get the message out there about how we can make a difference. People will be able to see both the rescue and awareness sides of the issue,” Kalimian stated. “We are so grateful to Karen for the opportunity to promote awareness and raise funds that will make a difference in the life of America’s horses.”
H.E.R.O. was founded in 2007. We are a 501 c. Non-profit organization that is a 100% volunteer organization.

H.E.R.O. is located in Winston Salem, NC and is committed to educating the community on the proper care of equines to prevent abuse, neglect and abandonment. H.E.R.O. takes custody of abused and neglected equines for rehabilitation so they can be placed in loving foster/ adopt care.

Irish Oaks is very excited and honored to be hosting the schooling show to benefit wonderful riders while raising money to support both Seraphim12 Foundation (www.seraphim12foundation.org ) and Hero Equine Rescue ( www.heroequinerescue.org). They ask that participants take a few minutes to educate themselves on the two charities and spread the word to help support future efforts.
