Amarillo, Texas, October 25, 2006 – The corridor between Oklahoma City and Dallas will be filled with American Quarter Horse fans as they travel to, from and between two of the American Quarter Horse Association’s premier events of the year – the AQHA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City and the MBNA America® Challenge Championships at Lone Star Park.
For horse enthusiasts planning an equine getaway, a stop to either – or both – of these locations is a must.
2006 Bank of America Amateur and FedEx Open World Championship Show
The world’s most talented American Quarter Horses, their trainers and owners will converge in Oklahoma City for the 33rd American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show. Bank of America® Amateur week begins November 4, followed by the FedEx Open, which runs through November 18.
This year’s show features 2,822 entries and 1,878 competing American Quarter Horses. The World Show welcomes exhibitors from 49 states, seven Canadian provinces and the United Kingdom. Total estimated purse and awards for the 2006 World Show is $2,457,010.
In addition, there will be 34 All-Around Amateur contenders and 31 Superhorse contenders including 2005 Superhorse With All Probability, four-time World Show qualifier Lena Spark, and two-time world champion Harley D Zip.
In addition to the more than 1,800 phenomenal horses competing during the two-week event, AQHA’s elite exhibitors will set the stage for steep competition. From Team Wrangler members Sandy Vaughn and Charlie Cole to Bobby Lewis and Ted Turner Jr., each performance will be one to see.

MBNA America® Challenge Championships Drawing Near
Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie is set to host the championship weekend of American Quarter Horse racing’s richest program
The 14th running of the MBNA America® Challenge Championships is just two weeks away, and the stage is set for steep competition that includes multiple champion Catchmeinyourdreams, 440-yard world record holder A Long Goodbye, 2006 All American Futurity Qualifier Remember The Rose and 2005 Los Alamitos Million Qualifier Sizzling. The 2006 MBNA America Challenge Championships will be held at Lone Star Park on Saturday, November 11.
American Quarter Horse Racing’s top-trainers and jockeys will take part in this championship event including Team Wrangler members Heath Taylor, G.R. Carter, Ed Hardy and Don Mourning.
The MBNA America Racing Challenge is American Quarter Horse racing’s richest program. A total of 71 races takes place in 10 regions across the United States, Canada, Mexico and South America throughout the year. American Quarter Horses compete in one of six different types of races, depending on their age and ability.
The MBNA America Racing Challenge is a $5 million purse and bonus awards program, of which more than 60 percent is added money from AQHA Corporate Partners and host racetracks.
