Kelly Tovar – Bio

I was raised in a little community near Rockdale Texas called Black Jack that was made up mostly of my relatives. I started running barrels when I was 4. My uncle had an old roping horse named “White Trash” that no one was using. I paid him $450.00 for him with money I had in my piggy bank.

I am not your typical barrel racer. I have had horses for 30 yrs and every horse I have ever owned knew the barrel pattern including my Tennessee walking horse.

I was born in Killeen, Tx. and grew up in Lampasas. When did you start barrel racing?other was still riding 2 to 3 weeks before I was born, so I probably could get by with saying “before I was born”. I won my first trophy on my mothers mare ‘Peppy Lyn’ at the age of 4. I am definitely a “second generation barrel racer” and horsewoman!
