Amarillo, Texas, September 16, 2005 – Two AQHA past presidents, Ken T. Smith and Jerry Windham, will be inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame during the 2006 AQHA Convention March 11-15 at the Hyatt Regency in Seattle, Washington.
Smith served as AQHA President in 1999. He served on numerous AQHA committees including the Show and Contest, Judges, Public Policy, Finance, Hall of Fame Selection, and Investment Oversight. He also served on the Racing Council from 1996 to 1998.
Windham served as AQHA President in 2000 and also served on numerous committees including Equine Research, Racing, Public Policy, Hall of Fame Selection, Finance, Investment Oversight, Public Policy, and Stud Book and Registration. Windham also served various terms on the Racing Council between 1991 and 2000, and the Public Policy Council from 1999 to 2002.
The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame was established in 1975 to honor people and horses instrumental in the development of the breed and the American Quarter Horse Association. Induction into the Hall of Fame is one of the highest honors bestowed by AQHA.

The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame resides inside the American Quarter Horse Heritage Center & Museum in Amarillo, Texas. In 2005, four individuals and two American Quarter Horses were inducted into the Hall of Fame expanding the inductee total to 116 people and 58 American Quarter Horses.
