AVMA Hires Medical/Science Writer
Schaumburg, Ill.
— As part of its expanded communications initiative, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has hired Kimberly May, DVM, MS, DACVS, as medical/science writer.
Prior to joining the AVMA, Dr. May, a board-certified large animal surgeon, worked in equine surgery positions in South Carolina, Florida, and Virginia. Dr. May graduated from veterinary school at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, Blacksburg, Va., where she later completed her residency and received her master’s degree in large animal surgery.
At the AVMA, Dr. May will be responsible for researching and preparing technical resource materials for AVMA members and the public on issues of current interest to veterinary medicine, such as avian and canine influenza, chronic wasting disease and bovine spongiform encephalopathy (mad cow disease).
