Amarillo, Texas, March 8, 2006 – The American Quarter Horse Foundation announced today that it received a generous planned gift of $1 million from AQHA Executive Committee Member Jim Helzer and his wife, Marilyn. The donation will contribute to the Foundation’s Capital Campaign. One of the first major donations to the Capital Campaign, the Helzers’ gift will help fund the new Hall of Fame & Museum scheduled to be completed in early 2007. Amarillo, Texas, March 7, 2006 — In the inaugural year of the America’s Horse Cares grant program, the American Quarter Horse Foundation received 125 applications. The Foundation Council approved 11 grants, with a funding total of $33,977.30. America’s Horse Cares was established in 2005 as a grant program to support North American Riding for the Handicapped Association-approved facilities. America’s Horse Cares recognizes and supports the proven benefits of therapeutic riding to individuals of all ages with a wide variety of mental, physical and emotional disabilities.
