Mare a Little Hot

Hi,
I have a mare that is a little hot. She is in her 4th year of competition, she is getting hotter all the time, she has started rearing at the gate, not because she is refusing but because she cant wait to run, it makes it hard to line her up where I need to be not to mention how dangerous it is.

She is a great horse placing in the 1-D all the time the only thing she does wrong is rear at the gate. Could you please give me some suggestions how to correct her problem.
Thanks Terry

Sounds like you need to go to some barrel races and NOT run – just ride around, ride in and out of the alley during drags and sit near the arena while others are running. You’ve haven’t let your mare know that she doesn’t have to run every time you take her off.
