New World Screwworm Companion Animal Information for Veterinarians

Due to the recent detections of New World screwworm (NWS), the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) is encouraging veterinarians to educate their clients on the clinical signs of myiasis and available prevention and treatment products. Currently, pet owners transporting companion animals are able to do so without movement permits or health certificates out of infested zones. However, all large groups of companion animals being moved may be asked for further verification to ensure that the animals have been monitored for symptoms.
