The U.S. government has embraced European legislation meant to help the global fight against cybercrime. The Council of Europe Convention on Cybercrime calls on countries to coordinate international law to investigate and prosecute online criminal activity. The convention has now been signed by 43 EU member states and 15 other parties, including the U.S. It will come into U.S. law on Jan. 1.
AUSTIN, TX – Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) officials received confirmation of anthrax in a Spanish goat on an Edwards County premises on August 12, 2026. This is the first confirmed case in Edwards County and second reported case of anthrax in Texas this year.
The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC), in collaboration with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, is providing animal owners and producers, veterinarians, New World Screwworm (NWS) Certified Inspectors, and other stakeholders with a quick-reference resource outlining current animal movement requirements related to NWS. This platform contains content to facilitate TAHC-compliant movement of animals.
