HITCHCOCK, TEXAS – Habitat For Horses/Lone Star Equine Rescue, Inc. is helping to coordinate efforts to assist the displaced, lost and injured horses in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina.
Volunteers will drive ten (10) trucks and trailers full of supplies and hay to Louisiana when FEMA has cleared us to enter the damaged area. Emergency staging areas are currently being established in Louisiana.
NEEDED ITMES:
Funds for fuel, food and expenses
Hay
Halters and lead ropes (must be new to prevent the spreading deceases)
Fencing materials – temporary fencing including hot wire, chargers and plastic poles and panels
Tarps
Trailers
First Aid materials – Betadine, antibiotic sprays, bandages, sponges
Trained volunteers able to travel to Louisiana
SKILLS NEEDED:
Large animal rescue, rounding up stray horses, treating injured animals, archiving, etc.

Habitat for Horses/Lone Star Equine Rescue, Inc. provides equine rescue services to law enforcement agencies, an equine adoption program, an equine education center and equine-assisted services to youths and adults.
