Horse Transportation Safety Act of 2009 moving forward

The US House Transportation Infrastructure Committee passed legislation H.R. 305, Horse Transportation Safety Act of 2009 to improve horse welfare.The bill now moves to the House of Representatives for a vote.

The legislation intends to prohibit the interstate transportation of horses in motor vehicles with two or more floors or levels stacked on top of each other. The legislation was introduced by U. S. Representatives Mark Kirk(R-ILL) and Steve Cohen(D-TENN) and has 70 cosponsors. Read More…
