House passes bill that would address rural veterinary shortage

A bill that would authorize USDA to provide federal matching fund to improve food animal veterinary services – particularly in underserved rural area – passed the House on Sept. 15.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Adrian Smith (R., Neb.) was supported by the American Veterinary Medical Association, the U.S. Animal Health Association, the American Horse Council, the American Meat Institute, and more than 80 other farm and veterinary organizations. Read More…
