Include pets when counting your blessings

When counting your blessings this November, don’t forget to count your pets. Pet owners have many reasons to appreciate their furry companions. Who else can you always rely on to greet you at the door at the end of a long day, with a happy face and wagging tail? Pets give complete loyalty and are the most tolerant and forgiving of friends.

There also are physical and psychological advantages to sharing your home with a pet. Several studies have shown that pet owners have lower blood pressure, triglyceride and cholesterol levels than nonowners. Pet ownership also increases the probability of regular exercise. We walk our dogs because they need it, but it also is good for our stress management, weight control and overall health. Read more…
