Agriculture community in Missouri critical of animal-welfare initiative

The Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act, a ballot initiative backed by the Humane Society of the United States, is raising concerns among some in the agriculture community in Missouri. “There is enough animal legislation in the state of Missouri,” said the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association’s executive vice president, Jeff Windett. “The existing programs are already under-funded and need more of our focus, not this initiative.” Columbia Missourian
