OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Animal caretakers seeking a ban on some Mexican rodeo events say they can cause serious injury to horses and steer.
“Tradition should never take precedence over the welfare of animals,” veterinarian Steve White told the Omaha City Council on Tuesday.
The council was considering a ban on some rodeo events, after the Nebraska Human Society called for their prohibition. A vote was expected next week.
