Equine vets in “Horsetown, USA” grapple with recession

The unstable U.S. economy has taken its toll on equine veterinarians across the country, including those in Norco, Calif., as many owners cut back on breeding and routine veterinary care, or even opt to abandon their horses. Experts say equine vets are more affected by the recession than companion-animal practitioners mostly because horses are regarded as more of a luxury than family cats or dogs.
