High gas prices have driven a Warren County, Tenn., farmer and his sons to hitch a tractor rake to a pair of mules to gather hay from their fields. T.R. AUSTIN, TX – Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) officials received confirmation of anthrax in a Spanish goat on an Edwards County premises on August 12, 2026. This is the first confirmed case in Edwards County and second reported case of anthrax in Texas this year.
The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC), in collaboration with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, is providing animal owners and producers, veterinarians, New World Screwworm (NWS) Certified Inspectors, and other stakeholders with a quick-reference resource outlining current animal movement requirements related to NWS. This platform contains content to facilitate TAHC-compliant movement of animals.
