Ill. lawmaker backs off legislation on animal mass euthanasia

Ill. state Sen. Bill Brady, R-Bloomington, Wednesday retreated from his proposal to permit the use of gas chambers to euthanize several stray shelter animals at one time. The move came after the Humane Society of the United States criticized the proposed bill and qualified the procedure as cruel. Chicago Sun-Times
