The story that sticks out most in my mind is a scary one and the reason I carry a gun while traveling. Last year coming home from Gillette WY’s Fizz Bomb Futurity at night we got behind a bull hauler who was obviously out of it. Jolene and Ashley and I were in the huge Jud Little Rig with the 9 Horse and the Semi. We knew our exit was coming up so we slowed down and got as far back from him as we could. Just before the exit he pulls his truck over on to the side of the higway and we think he has probably realized he’s falling asleep at the wheel so we get over in the passing lane and plan to pass him. About the time we get to him he wheels his truck across the road infront of us and is hanging out the window shaking his fist at us Jo had to hit the ditch to miss him. We pulled over to the truck stop and called 911. It was pretty scary no telling what he was on. Thats another reason I will never have my name on my rig to many unpredictable people in this world.

If I were asked about my favorite horse, well I guess they were all my favorite horse at the time but the one that stands out would have to be Miss Finesse Flitbar (Libby). She is so honest. She makes the same trip every time. She is now 15 and doesn’t go as much. I have tried to stay off her and concentrate on a new horse, Lacey who seems to be coming together nicely. The first big place I ever ran was at the Huntsville prison rodeo back in about 1984.

A friend of mine gave me a pet raccoon named Buddy at a rodeo.  I had a pickup with a camper and boot to crawl through. We put Buddy in a cage in the camper. My girlfriend and I started home and I felt a hand on my shoulder. Buddy had escaped and was climbing into the front of the pickup. At the time I didn’t know him very well and he climbed on the dash and started running back and forth. We stopped the truck and jumped out and the truck was stopped in the middle of the road with a raccoon in it. Traffic was backing up and finally I got back in and pulled it off the road. It was scary at the time but Buddy turned out to be a wonderful pet and we had many years of fun with him.
